Oxford: University Press 1815. 8vo. Orig. calf with gilt-dec. spine with raised bands and morocco title-labels (hinges cracked but sound). (xii 424pp.). 1st edition. Some foxing but a very good copy overall. NOTE: William van Mildert (1765-1836) was the last Prince-Bishop of Durham (1826-1836) and one of the founders of the University of Durham. This is his contribution to the Bampton Lectures founded by English clergyman John Bampton (1689-1751) and often cause for lively controversy.
