With b/w frontisps., illust. title-pages and fold. illusts. Marbled end-papers. Very light foxing in Volume 1. Water staining on frontisp., title-page and illusts. in Vol. 6, not affecting text. Some of the spines slightly rubbed, otherwise a fine set. NOTE: This biography of Samuel Johnson, the English writer who is credited with the creation of the first English Dictionary, was a success right from its publication in 1791. Dr. James Boswell was meticulous in his research and inclusion of Johnson's conversations.
