With frontisp. portr. 16 coloured full-page plates 111 b/w full-page plates 92 text-illusts and 4 col. maps. 1st ed. (The Norwegian Polar Expedition 1893-1896). Previous owners name and date on front fly leaf of Vol. I. Previous owners bookplate on front end-papers of both volumes. Light foxing on end-papers otherwise a good set. Partly unopened. NOTE: Fridtjof Wedel-Jarlsberg Nansen (1861-1930) was a Norwegian explorer scientist and diplomat who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922 for his work as a League of National High Commissioner.
