London: The Folio Society 2010. Two text volumes are Sm. 4to's. Both volumes bound in blue buckram by Hunter and Foulis Edinburgh. Gilt. Profusely illust. in col. many of which full-page including frontisp. in Introduction volume. Blue ribbon markers. Both volumes housed in slipcases. Facsimile map (142cm by 120cm) printed in 4 colours plus metallic gold. Mounted on canvas with two English Oak Battens. Limited edition of 1 000 copies this being Number 386. A fine reproduction of this important and impressive map. NOTE: The Hereford Mappa Mundi is the largest and finest Mappa Mundi in existence. It is a stunning example of the craftmanship produced in around AD 1300. The map reflects how the world was seen by Christian Europeans in the late thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries with Jerusalem in the centre.
