This is a rare or used book from the Berkelouw Rare Books Department.

London: H. D. Symonds 1796. Small octavo. Bound in contemporary full polished calf (lower front corner defective; front hinge starting but sound). (viii 5-188pp). Bookplates inside front cover. A very scarce work which is of course entirely fictitious although many of the early details were based on correct information. Fletcher Christian was the ringleader of the mutiny and took the Bounty from Tahiti to Pitcairn Island where according to the last survivor John Adams he met his death at the hands of the Tahitians. It is possible however that he escaped from the island and returned to England. Indeed his relations in Cumberland claimed that he visited them in 1808-9. Capt. Peter Heywood too is supposed to have met Christian in Devonport at around the same time.
