NOTE: Sir John Monash (1865-1931) was in command of the 4th Infantry Brigade 1st Australian Imperial Force at Gallipoli in 1915 then the 3rd Division AIF on the Western Front from 1916 to 1918 before becoming a very successful commander of the Australian Corps in 1918.
