NOTE: James Gordon Legge (1863-1937) served with the New South Wales Mounted Rifles in the South African War of 1899-1902 and then as commander of the 1st Australian Division later the 2nd Australian Division at Gallipoli in 1915. After command of the 2nd Division at the Battle of Pozieres in France 1916 he returned to Australia in early 1917.
