Inscription to previous owner on front free endpaper of Volume I in Parallel Lives. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper of Volume II in Parallel Lives. Foxing on endpapers otherwise a very good set of these important philosophical works. NOTE: A Greek and Roman philosopher Plutarch's works influenced the development of historical writing the biography and the essay. His two most important works are Parallel Lives; biographies of important Greek and Romans and Moralia a collection of speeches and essays.
