NOTE: Author was Medical Officer of 2/15th Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, and was taken prisoner by the Japanese on the fall of Singapore, 15th February 1942. For the next three-and-a-half years he helped save the lives of fellow prisoners-of-war in Changi, on the Burma-Thailand railway and in Japan.
