Edinburgh: William Blackwood & Sons, 1849. Sm. 8vo. Orig. full dark brown morocco (some minor edge wear), with ornamental borders and decorations in gilt. Spine extra gilt and with raised bands. A.e.g. (6, iv, 326pp.). With additional engraved title-page. Hinges weak. Some foxing to prelims, and a water stain to lower corner of title page, otherwise fine. Adorned under the gilt of the fore-edge is a fine painting in green, blue and brown hues, depicting a landscape (possibly Italian) with a castle and tower, trees, a river, and a milkmaid herding her cows across an arched bridge.
