Beautifully bound in full red calf, with gilt borders to front and rear covers. The spine is extra gilt with raised bands and a contrasting morocco titling label. All edges gilt. (xiv, 312pp.). With numerous text-illustrations by Samuel Williams, and marbled endpapers. Featuring a brightly coloured panoramic (triple) fore-edge work of a golfing scene on each edge. 2) SCOTT, W. The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott. ?? Edinburgh & London: Gall and Inglis, n.d. Octavo. Full brown morocco with gilt decorations to front cover, and blind tooling to front and rear covers. Spine extra gilt, compartmentalised and with raised bands. All edges gilt. (xvi, 624pp.). With additional engraved title-page, frontispiece, and illustrations by T. G. Flowers. Each page bordered in red ink. The fine vertical painting on the fore-edge (initialled "M") depicts Lady Margaret Scott playing golf. 3) TAYLOR, T. The Life of William Cowper, Esq. ?? London: R. B. Seeley and W. Burnside, 1835. Small octavo. Bound in dark green straight-grained full morocco. Spine gilt titled and with raised bands. All edges gilt. (viii, 488pp.). With frontispiece portrait by Cook of the middle-aged Cowper, and marbled endpapers. The fore-edge painting depicts a nattily attired gentleman in a bright red jacket carrying a golf club over his shoulder, and with a windmill in the background. A desirable troika of golf-related ephemeral art. Scarce.
