(Brisbane: James C. Beal) 1874 & 1876. F'scap folio. NOTE: The Establishment at Somerset was planned as a port and administrative centre for the Torres Strait region. It was maintained jointly by the Queensland Government and the Imperial Government. Whilst it had strong support in 1874 by 1876 the Queensland Government had withdrawn its monetary support. Eventually they settled on the new location of Thursday Island.
